A colourful Indian advertising poster for bindi pigment applicators, showing a lady in traditional dress holding up a tray of the product.

A bindi is a small dot of colour applied in the centre of the forehead between the eyebrows, worn throughout the Indian subcontinent, particularly by Hindus. It represents the 'third eye', or the spot for the ajna - the sixth chakra of concealed wisdom. Although more commonly red, it can vary in colour and it can be applied as a sticker or a dot of pigment, like advertised here.

69.3 x 46.2 cm, framed and glazed
